MILE 22 MOVIE REVIEW

Mile 22 is directed by Peter Berg and stars Mark Wahlberg, John Malkovich, Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais, and Ronda Rousey. The plot of the movie is an elite American intelligence officer, aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country.  I really hated this movie and I was not expecting that because Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg have worked together a few times before and I have loved the films they made. In the first few minutes, I knew I was in for something very rocky because we are starting off and we see this team on a mission. They have a plan to seek into a house run by the Russian mob I thought that could lead to some amazing action. As soon as the action sequences start to kick in that is when I knew oh shit we’re in trouble. It’s a lot of quick cuts to the point where you can’t see a fucking thing that is happening.    During the opening credits, we see a montage where they describe Mark Wahlberg’s character, James Silva. They talk about how he is gifted and how he wasn’t like the other kids and it is all done in this opening montage with ADR looped over it. That is not character development that is the studio force-feeding information to you.  Mark Wahlberg is awful in this movie. His character is so unlikeable he does nothing but whines and complains. They try to explain because he is so gifted that’s why he is so angry. There are a few times when people call him out for it, but the character never changes.    Lauren Cohan has an interesting story where she is a divorced mom she’s trying to reconnect with her child, but because she is on multiple missions with this group she can’t be there. On paper, that story doesn’t seem so bad, but the way it’s presented in this film it’s stupid.  There are a few action scenes where you can tell what is happening, but for the most part, it’s not even possible.    It also doesn’t help that the story is just this guy has some sensitive information about the country and now we have action sequences to do. So the characters are terrible, the acting sucks and the story is almost non-existent.    0 out of 5 stars for Mile 22 I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide not to see this garbage.
